   MAHAVIR JAYANTI Mahavir Jayanti or Mahavir Janma Kalyanak is one o the important jain festival which celebrates the birth of Lord Mahavir who was the twenty-fourth and last Trithankar of the present Avasapirni. According to the Gregorian calender, thid day falls in the month of March and April.  This year Mahavir Jayanti was celebrated on 4th of April. As per Jainism, Mahavir was born on the thirteenth day in the month of Chaitra in 599 BCE, but Digambar school of Jainism believes that Mahavira was born in 615 BCE. Most historians find that the birthplace of Mahavir is Kundagram (now known as kundalpur in the Champaran district of Bihar). Mahavir was born in the Democratic Empire (Ganarajya), Vajji, where the ruler was elected by the vote. Vaishali was the capital of the world.
